A Superb Example of an Early Nineteenth Century Grand Tour English Regency Ormolu and Patinated Bronze Inkstand Standish of outstanding quality, in the manner of Thomas Messenger.
The inverted gilded oval shell enclosing two glass ink bottles fitted with bronze tops and Lotus leaf decoration to the sides above two gilded Dolphins resting on a bronze plinth of sarcophagus form which is adorned with classical leaf detailing.
First quarter of the Nineteenth Century.
Condition: Superb untouched condition with no losses except for one of the glass ink jars is cracked, see image. Baise underneath has been replaced, nicely done.
