Stunning Rare Pair of French Empire Ormolu and Patinated Bronze Three Light Candelabra. First quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly Regency period.
Attributed to Pierre-Philippe Thomire after a Design by Charles Percier, French Architect of the Empire style.
Each with a central Patinated solid Bronze Putto nude figure holding a loft three foliate-leaf capped branched lights terminating on a central decorative support with berry and acanthus leaf detail, above a standing classical figure, on a bronze circular fluted pedestal with applied ormolu decorations on a shallow stepped square base with foliate border and incurved corners.
Height: (entire overall as shown in image one an impressive) 20.25” (51.5cm). Width: (at base) 4.5” (11.5cm). Depth: (at base) 4.5” (11.5cm).
Condition: Superb condition with no losses. Professionally re-gold plated and bronze patinated, all firm fitting drip candle pans are present and original.
