A Superb Example of a Japanese Carved and Stained Ivory Standing Gentleman carrying a child, last quarter of the Nineteenth Century, possibly Meiji Period (1868-1912).
Realistically modelled with etched and stained decoration and typical headdress.
The Japanese standing Gentleman dressed in traditional full length Kimono Dress with allover pattern including a woven straw Samuria hat, is holding a Sitar musical instrument on one hand and a cleaver on the other. The child secured to his back with similar costume.
Condition: Superb condition with wonderful patination, no losses to anywhere. underneath has wonderful age-wear.
