Sybil Connolly 1921-1998.
Renowned Irish Designer during the 1950s to 60s, she worked from her Salon at 71 Merrion Square in Dublin. Her Collections were sold within Ireland and in America, her prominent list of Clients included Rockefellers, Mellons and Duponts. She designed the linen dress which Jacqueline Kennedy wore in her White House Portrait.
In the 1980s Ms. Connolly began designing wares for luxury goods makers Tiffany & Co. NY, Tipperary Crystal, Brunschwig & Fils and Schumacher.
Lived at 71 Merrion Square a Georgian Townhouse until 1998.
Considered one of Dublin's finest Georgian Squares was first laid out in 1762 and was completed by the early 19th Century.
The square boasts a number of notable residents during its history including Oscar Wilde at No.1. The Poet W.B. Yeates at No. 82. The Irish Politcian Daniel O'Connell lived at No.58. To-day this Townhouse is a private residence which has been restoerd to its original splendour.
