Torre Abbey Torquay Devon England was founded in 1196 and became the wealthiest Premonstratensian House in England. Following Henry VIII's dissolution of the Monasteries many of the ranges were demolished. Lived in by the Carey Family from the late Seventeenth Century until 1930, it is now in the hands of the State and is open to the public. The present view shows much of the 18th & 19th Century remodelling to the front flanked by older buildings.
