Rare Verner Polished Brass & Steele Pocket Compass (Pattern III) made by J.H. Steward 406 Strand, London.
With its distinctive compass card markings - the NORTH direction (black diamond) could be easily distinguished in darkness. When this compass was produced luminous paint did not exist.
