An Extremely Rare Hand Carved Irish Bog Oak Owl of museum quality, mid Nineteenth Century, possible earlier.

The removable head with original amber glass eyes, raised on a bone socle and a spreading carved circular base.

Condition: Superb condition.

Height: 6.5" (16.5cm). Base diam: 3" (7.75cm).

Provenance: This rare piece was recently sourced from a dealer in Minnesota U.S.A. and was previously purchased at an antiques fair in England.

NOTE: The National Museum of Ireland has a similar example which bears a makers label of Cornelius Goggin, Irish Bog Oak carver to Her Majesty 13 Nassau Street Dublin.
