909. Fish Vertebra and Horn Walking Stick Circa 1900


A Substantial Sea Ray or Shark Fish Vertebrae (backbone) and Horn Walking Stick, last quarter of the Nineteenth Century.

With a traditional crook handle, the tapering main shaft ending with its original horn ferrule.

* It was common for Sailors to build by hand this style of Cane and then trade them off for drinks or even a special favour from a lady when they came to shore.  

 

Condition: Good original firm condition.

 

Length: 35.5" (90cm).
