834. Fine Tortoiseshell Ivory and Pewter Strung Teacaddy early 19thCt

An Exceptionally Fine Rare Bombe Shaped Vibrant Tortoiseshell Double Tea Caddy with beautiful figured Turtle Shell panels. First half of the Nineteenth Century.

The “Pagoda Style” velvet lined interior hinged lid with pewter stringing, central vacant white metal tablet opening to twin lidded compartments with ivory finials, the front with shaped white metal escutcheon resting on four white metal ball supports.

Condition: Untouched condition with good colour and rich patination, some  missing stringing and a tiny loss to shell on one inside cover. The lid is seperated from the caddy but there is no loss or damage to shell inlay at back. The Caddy displays very well as shown in some pictures.
