An Extremely Fine Still Life Oil Painting on Board by well listed English Artist Edwin Steele depicting Summer Fruits of Black & Green Grapes, Plums and Peachs with foliage on a mossy background on a forest floor.

Edwin Steele 1837-1898: This A prolific Painter of mostly Still Life subjects allthough some examples of Landscapes can be found, he was also a painter for the Derby Porcelain Factory, with several examples of his work held in their Museum Collection which can be viewed by the public. He is noted for his finely detailed work in porcelain and oil paintings.

Works by this exceptionally talented Artist seldom come up for auction. We managed to find a pair of similar Paintings sold at Christie's New York June 2011. Hammer price $2,250 plus buyers premium.
