436. Rare Irish Waterford Cut Crystal Covered Urn Circa 1830-40


An Extremely Stylish Irish Heavy Gauge Deep Hand Cut Crystal Covered Urn or Sweetmeat Jar (even sometimes referred to as “Chestnut Urns”) of large size. Circa 1830, possible made by the original Waterford Glass Works, Waterford, Ireland or could be of Cork Glass origin.

The main lower entire body with a meticulously executed continuous diamond cut pattern above a slender socle ending on plain square stepped base with star cut pattern underneath. The original dome shaped cover with similar decoration and a circular faceted knob finial. 

Condition: This piece is offered in original very good condition, with losses to two corners only at base, see final  image, no inside clouding, wonderful evidence of age wear at base.

This is a wonderful example of rare early Irish Crystal of very fine quality in exceptional condition for such an early piece.
