A Very Fine Example of an Irish Ceramic Spongeware Center Bowl of good size proportions, mid to late Nineteenth Century.
The interior is decorated in deep blue with similar decoration on base on an off white ground.
Condition: Very good for such an early piece, few small losses on base rim and a hair line.

Irish Spongeware was the traditional pottery of Ireland produced and used during the Eighteenth Century. To-day it is still produced in Ireland and Europe. The decoration is mainly simple honest shapes done by hand using cut sponge.
This is a very nice piece in good condition.
